Lisbon is blessed as the only European capital located so close to sandy beaches, the Lisbon coast offers beautiful beaches that range from sheltered little coves to miles of dune-backed sands. There are many beaches to choose from within a 30-minute drive radius.

AVENCAS BEACH

Praia das Avencas is a small beach nestled between high cliffs and rocky outcrops. This stretch of coastline is protected to preserve the rich marine life that thrives among the rocks and along the cliffs. Although small, Avencas Beach is a great place for children to explore the rock pools that emerge at low tide.

TAMARIZ BEACH

GUINCHO BEACH

One of the most iconic beaches in Cascais, Guincho Beach is located in a vast dune area and is internationally renowned for its excellent conditions for surfing, windsurfing and other water sports.

CRESMINA BEACH

Cresmina Beach is one of the largest beaches in the Guincho area. Approaching from Cascais, it is the first beach you encounter, stretching across a long sandy shoreline surrounded by dunes.

PONTA DA GALÉ BEACH

Ponta da Galé is a small beach located between Guincho and Cresmina beaches. Nestled within a rocky cove, it offers natural shelter from the strong winds that often affect the area. It is also a wonderful spot to enjoy breathtaking sunsets.

CARCAVELOS BEACH

Praia de Carcavelos is one of the most popular beaches on the Lisbon coastline, partly due to its proximity to the capital. Renowned for its reliable surf, golden sands and excellent facilities, it attracts large numbers of visitors, especially during weekends and throughout the summer months.
